On The Issues – Transportation: Addressing Traffic Fatalities

House Page Michaeline McCreary asks Senate Transportation Chair, Marko Liias, and Senate Transportation Ranking Member, Curtis King, about how the legislature plans to address the increase in traffic fatalities in Washington State.

Question: Washington state adopted the Target zero plan in order to eliminate traffic fatalities and serious injuries by 2030. However, tough recent data shows an increase in those numbers. As the deadline approaches, what can the legislature do to help achieve the goal? Is there consideration of extending the deadline?
