Division 1 Court of Appeals

State of Washington v. Moses Wiggins, III

  • Wiggins shot and killed Waheed Rashid after Rashid had asked Wiggins for money and drew a gun on him. The State charged Wiggins with felony murder based on robbery or attempted robbery. The court rejected Wiggins’s self-defense theory. The jury found Wiggins guilty, and, at a bifurcated bench trial, Wiggins was convicted of unlawful possession of a firearm in the second degree. Wiggins appeals, arguing the court erred in denying his self-defense theory, there was insufficient evidence to support the convictions, his counsel was ineffective, and the court erred in admitting prior statements. COA# 868705. King County Superior Court# 22-1-00253-7 KNT.
