My Favorite Places: Beverly Bridge

Ralph Munro takes us to Central Washington and the scenic Beverly Bridge. It’s a historic 2300 foot bridge that spans the Columbia River near the small town of Beverly, Washington. Initially built in 1909 as part of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific Railroad, it was a key piece of infrastructure in the expansion of rail networks across the Pacific Northwest. After decades of use for freight and passenger rail, the bridge was abandoned when the Milwaukee Road terminated operations in 1980. It now has been repurposed as a pedestrian and cycling bridge, becoming part of the Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail and giving outdoor enthusiasts another option to cross the Columbia River.
