Department of Labor and Industries v. Tesoro Refining & Marketing
- The Department of Labor & Industries cited Tesoro for 44 safety violations and a penalty of approximately $2.4 million stemming from an explosion at its refinery in Anacortes, WA. The Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals vacated all but 6 violations. The Department and the United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial and Service Workers International Union (USW) appealed to superior court and Tesoro cross-appealed. The superior court issued a written order which granted and denied relief in part sought by the Department, USW, and Tesoro. The Department and USW appealed and Tesoro cross-appealed. COA #883445.
