- The Washington Attorney General opened an investigation, pursuant to the Charitable Trusts Act, into the Catholic Church’s potential misuse of charitable funds to cover up child sex abuse. The State issued a subpoena to the Archdiocese, which the Archdiocese refused to comply with. The trial court denied the State’s petition to enforce the subpoena, ruling that the Archdiocese was exempt from compliance.
