TVW’s Campaign for Civic Engagement

When Washington’s needs escalated during the COVID-19 pandemic, TVW stepped up with innovative solutions that connected citizens from remote corners of the state and the world to keep our democracy thriving.

TVW emerged from the crisis with more viewers than ever and a vision to safeguard our community-led government. 

The Building Democracy Together campaign will realize this vision by improving streaming technology to meet Washington’s evolving needs and creating a new Center for Civic Engagement to foster productive participatory governance.

  • Convenient Online Access
  • Description: Renovate the Jeannette C. Hayner Media Center, outfitting the second floor to expand areas for streaming production and content creation, increasing production space and upgrading technology investments to meet demand for flexible content.
  • Productive Citizen Involvement
  • Description: Build a Center for Civic Engagement adjacent to TVW’s current location to act as a “front door” to the Capitol Campus. Build on TVW’s history of civic education to engage Washingtonians in online, virtural, and in-person programming to inform, educate and encourage participation in government at all levels.
