On “The Impact”:
A Washington State lieutenant joins us to talk ticketing trends, texting behind the wheel, crawling in the left lane and other traffic no no’s.
“It’s pretty easy to detect when somebody’s manipulating their phone,” said Lt. Ron Kessler, Washington State Patrol.
As for solo drivers in the HOV lanes… “That is one of the leading complaints that we get because people are frustrated when they are doing the right thing and they see people just openly violating that law,” said Kessler.
This week we also head out with divers from WADNR who to inspect harvesting operations for Washington’s most distinctive mollusk, the geoduck.
“Washington state is the only state in the continental U.S. that has geoducks and produces geoducks naturally,” said Hilary Franz, Commissioner of Public Lands. “I would tell anybody and everybody they should try it.”
“Annually we bring in anywhere from 20-25 million dollars it obviously fluctuates in time, but China is our major market for this,” said Franz.
You’ll also hear about Washington’s newest state senator and how the Washington Department of Ecology is pushing back against a federal policy change that would limit state authority to control water pollution
