On “The Impact”:
This November with Referendum 88 voters will decide whether to override a state legislative decision that seeks to reinstate affirmative action policies in public hiring, contracting and education. An initiative to the legislature, I-1000, passed largely along party lines on the last day of the legislative session. Opponents launched a referendum campaign to get it on the ballot for a statewide vote. It would replace I-200 which voters approved back in 1998.
Interviews:
I-1000 supporter, former Governor Gary Locke;
and Linda Yang from the Reject 88 campaign.
Other topics we cover this week: the veto that sparked a legislative lawsuit; and how tensions over state wolf policies have reached the boiling point.
