“The Impact” – Jan. 24th, 2018:

After more than a year of negotiations, lawmakers reach a breakthrough deal on a water rights dispute affecting communities across the state.

“Almost everybody in the state, unless there’s a rule already in place, will be able to drill a well, an exempt well,” said Sen. Judy Warnick (R).

“This is the most difficult issue I’ve dealt with down here in 14 years,” said Rep. Larry Springer (D).

It’s accompanied by a long awaited agreement on  the state construction budget. Leaders of the House Capital Budget Committee discuss the highlights of the Capital Budget bill and what it means for schools and local infrastructure across the state.

You’ll also hear why the head of DNR is pushing for more resources and more time to review timber applications for landslide risks and why forest industry representatives say a rule change is the wrong approach.
