The state is taking historic steps to streamline the delivery of services to children.  We highlight the person in charge of a new state agency aimed at improving outcomes and speak with the lawmakers who spearheaded the bill to make it happen.

“It’s a challenge it’s a daunting challenge there are moments when I’m terrified about it because it really matters to kids,” said Ross Hunter, Secretary of the Department of Children, Youth, and Families.

Also in this episode, a former Washington State Supreme Court justice weighs in on the big picture surrounding McCleary vs Washington at a key moment in the historic education funding case.

“If they’re not satisfied that the way they are calculating cost is not basic funding then the supreme court could, could indeed put them on notice that they either clean it up before fall of 2018 or there won’t be school,” said Faith Ireland, Former Washington State Supreme Court justice.
