Consistent with its objective to provide citizens with information about their government, the following shall be the copyright and terms of use policies of TVW.

All content, including text, graphics, audio, video and applications on this site are protected by U.S. copyright and international treaties and may not be copied without the express permission of TVW, which reserves all rights. Re-use of any of TVW's content and graphics online for any purpose may be granted on a case-by-case basis provided the content and/or graphics are not modified in any way, all copyright and other notices on any copy are retained, and permission is granted by TVW. Re-use of any of TVW's content and graphics online for any commercial or political purpose is strictly prohibited.

The video and audio signal of TVW is copyright protected and subject to licensure. No reuse of programming or signal may be made without the express consent of the organization.

Terms of Use


TVW's video and audio signal may be used by bona fide news broadcasters without charge except for certain direct costs such as tape duplication. The signal provided to television broadcasters shall include on-screen credit to TVW throughout the footage. Use of audio including from RealAudio files, shall be granted if the broadcaster makes oral credit attribution to TVW.

Consistent with its objective of providing tools for quality civic education, TVW grants to educators free and unlimited use of its signal and the rights to retain tapes in perpetuity as long as such use is for instructional purposes.

Use or reuse of TVW's signal or programming for political or commercial purposes is strictly prohibited.

TVW will sell videotape copies of its programming to the general public, sponsoring organizations of televised events, and educators at rates approved by the Board of Directors. Programming shall be in its entirety. No commercial or political use of this material will be allowed. Videotape copies will be made available only after the taped programming has been televised.

Copyright Exemption for Educators


TVW hereby grants educators this license containing the right to tape any TVW- produced program without receiving prior permission from TVW, so long as the copying is for in-classroom use and not for sale, distribution, or any political purpose. The terms of this license constitute a liberal copyright policy that allows educators to record TVW-produced programs (at school or at home) for later use. Such programs may be retained in perpetuity for future in-classroom use. No license fee shall be due for using TVW as an educational resource so long as such use is made in accordance with the terms of this license.
